How Banks Are About to Control Your Access To Cash & Credit

<p>Have you ever boycotted a product because you didn&rsquo;t like the company&rsquo;s ethics?</p> <p>The first mass boycott I recall when I became a socially conscious teenager was the boycott of canned tuna in the late 1980s. This was because dolphins were getting caught in the tuna nets.</p> <p>But&hellip; have you ever heard of a company boycotting a consumer because they didn&rsquo;t like the personal ethics of the consumer? The road goes both ways, does it not?</p> <p>Very quietly, over the last several years, banks have begun cutting people off from their accounts, freezing their cash, and closing them because of who the person is.</p> <p>This is happening here in the UK at a bank called NatWest, which also owns a very prestigious branch called Coutts. When you think of Coutts, think numbered Swiss accounts and trust fund babies. That type of stuff.</p> <p>The issue of banks closing peoples accounts caught the public news cycle when a somewhat popular political figure had his bank account shut down - a politician named Nigel Farage. He&rsquo;s the gentleman responsible for ushering in the Brexit Vote in 2016.</p> <p>It has become somewhat of a public spectacle, where we saw Coutts justifying its actions, and then&nbsp;<a href="https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/jul/27/coutts-chief-quits-and-crisis-wipes-1bn-off-natwest-shares" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">ousting it&rsquo;s CEO</a>&nbsp;because they were caught, and the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-66288464" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">BBC apologizing</a>&nbsp;for its lack of journalistic integrity during its coverage. If it hadn&rsquo;t become such a public spectacle, not much daylight has been shed on the subject. I didn&rsquo;t know. That is until it happens to you.</p> <p>This all came to a head because of a forty-page leaked document from Coutts showing how they analyzed their reasons for dropping Mr. Farage.
