<p>Because of the <a href="https://www.britannica.com/topic/social-contract" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">social contract</a>, our responsibilities to each other form a fundamental part of our society.</p>
<p>We fulfill our end of the contract by paying taxes, being responsible members of society by living within the laws, and helping build up our community amongst other things. And in return, the larger community ‘repays’ us by accepting us in society while ensuring that the overall well-being and functioning of the community remain high.</p>
<p>No matter what naysayers say to put you down, we are all part of a larger community, and our actions can have a significant impact on others.</p>
<p>However, in a world filled with countless causes, each one as important as the next, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.</p>
<p>Across the world, millions of poverty-stricken children are not getting the education they need to lift their families out of poverty. A flood is wreaking havoc on a village and a drought is causing farmers to lose all the work they put into planting the crops. At the same time, while Big Oil continues to lobby the government for subsidies, environmentalists are calling for more action to be taken to prevent climate change from becoming worse…</p>
