The Body Positivity Movement Isn’t for Thin Women

Fatphobia has been normalized to the point of invisibility. The body positivity movement is a direct response to that. It’s a pervasive part of our culture we’ve all missed. Impeccably hidden in plain sight.

Without a solid understanding of body positivity’s origin, and purpose it appears to be for everyone. At its surface, it resembles self-love. Or confidence. Not adhering to an uncertain, largely unattainable, beauty standard. It's understandable why thinner women clung so quickly to the movement. While its messages can lend themselves to that interpretation it was never about those things. It’s not for or about thin women.
