We all dream of a better Dublin

Coming from a city with no cycling culture at all, when I first stepped into Dublin, I thought the cycle lanes were the most amazing in the world. Having been here for three years now I see it is good, but there’s potential to be even better. Dublin has what it takes to become one of the most cycling-friendly cities in the world: its people.

Despite having bike lanes on most roads, the city is still a bit of a laggard when it comes to improving cycling infrastructure, especially if compared to Denmark and the Netherlands. Ireland has also not been performing well when it comes to climate action. It was rated in 2019 as the worst-performing EU country in the Climate Change Performance Index.
