The baseball model of the Supreme Court

At first, this looks like a pretty formidable lineup. But wait — I have three third basemen and two right fielders, but no shortstop, catcher, or second baseman! Maybe I could get, say, Machado to play short in a pinch, but I don’t want to settle — I want to find the best team.

Let’s see how far down the list I have to go to get those positions filled. The best shortstop listed, Trea Turner, is ranked number 11. At number 23 is the best second baseman, Jose Altuve. And to get the highest-ranked catcher we have to go to number 29, J.T. Realmuto. So we’ll swap Turner, Altuve, and Realmuto in for the redundant Betts, Arenado, and Ramirez.

Visit Now
