<p>The entire debate about immigration has been skewed for months with allegations that perfectly legal entry procedures involving asylum request, for example, are described as supporting mass “illegal” immigration.</p>
<p>Now, with <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/22/us/politics/border-deal-parole-money-senate-talks.html" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">The New York Times reporting that senators are near a deal</a> on halting the flow of migrants to the border, we’re still seeing House Republicans seek to undercut that deal because it isn’t their bill, because it isn’t exactly what they futility passed as House Bill 2 basically barring asylum systems, and because, well, Donald Trump doesn’t want Republicans to support anything that might take pressure on immigration off Joe Biden, his likely opponent in November.</p>
