Moments of Awe

As a child my parents often took us to a farm about 25 miles north of where I live. It was out in the country and sat at the base of a very high hill. A few years ago I was out for a drive in the fall. I realized I had found my way to the farm and headed up to the hill.

From the top what I saw was a jaw dropping view of the amazing colours of fall across the total view I had. What really made my jaw drop was the view I had of Lake Ontario. It was stunning how far north I was and could see it like I was only a mile or so away.

Not all mountains of awe occur on the top of high hills. Some can occur during everyday activities. When we get surprised by joy or discovering our own awareness of the presence of the divine, of source energy at work in our life.

I often find myself in awe when I discover insight about either myself or a subject I’m exploring and I have no idea where the insight came from. I’m learning though, the unexpected insight is indeed tapping into awareness of my connections to others at a subconscious level.

In those moments, as fleeting as they can be, I find myself pausing in surprise at what I’m capable of that I had no idea was possible. It’s a moment of feeling proud yet tiny in the bigger flow of the energy of the consciousness and interconnectedness of life. I feel gratitude for those moments of clarity and insight, motivation to continue the journey of discovery.

Visit Now
