Are Vivek's Ten Truths Yours?

The 2024 Republican presidential field has already been reduced by one. Miami Mayor Francis Suarez dropped out after failing to qualify for the first GOP presidential debate. Others will follow, but one candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy, is gaining strength. He is running third in most polls, behind Trump and Ron DeSantis, but ahead of several better-known and qualified candidates. That is worrisome.

Ramaswamy can be called Trump without the baggage. Or MAGA 2.0. He calls his campaign "Truth."

The wealthy biotech businessman with no political experience can also be called a dangerous demagogue. Who is he? He has financed much of his long-shot campaign with money made at Roivant Sciences, a firm he founded. He's smart, a graduate of Harvard and Yale Law School. And he's brash, as evidenced by his unapologetic promise to pardon Donald Trump if he is elected.

Trump's campaign reminds me of 1984, George Orwell's dystopian story about the future best known for several memorable quotes:

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.

Ramaswamy's campaign features a list of ten "truths" that define his beliefs and vision for the country. The list is worth reviewing.
