Why Can’t We Have Anita Hill?

Anita Faye Hill is a stellar human being. She was valedictorian of her high school in Oklahoma and after getting a bachelor’s degree (with honors) from Oklahoma State University went on to Yale Law where she also graduated with honors. She’s currently a professor of social policy, law, and women’s studies at Brandeis University and a faculty member of the university’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management. Last year, she published “Believing: Our Thirty-Year Journey to End Gender Violence,”

Most importantly, she’s one of the first people to stand up against sexual harassment in the United States. I can hardly imagine the pressure she was under when, as a young Black woman, she was called to testify before the all-white, all-male Senate Judiciary Committee in 1991 where she was publicly bullied and harassed for her pains.
