<p>Ambition is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it can, and should, drive people to achieve great things and make positive change in the world. On the other, unchecked ambition can lead to ruin. The Korean-German philosopher Byung-Chul Han dove into this dilemma through &ldquo;smart power&rdquo; and &ldquo;auto exploitation.&rdquo;</p> <p>We now live in an age of &ldquo;smart power&rdquo; rather than brute domination by force. Han introspected, &ldquo;Today&rsquo;s power is not violent; it no longer needs to be repressive&hellip;.It flatters and entertains more than it commands.&rdquo; Social media apps and smartphones are prime examples of this insidious form of control that seduces us into policing and optimizing ourselves.
