After Getting Laid Off in Tech, Here’s How I Got a New Job in Six Weeks

I was laid off from my product manager role in a top tech company at the start of the year. I’d been there for five years and I was ready to leave so I accepted the severance package with a smile on my face. I was confident I could get a new role fairly quickly. And, as it turned out, I managed to get three job offers in six weeks — one of which I accepted and am now super happy with. In this story, I’ll share what I did and the process that I went through. What I learnt is that yes skill-set is important, but if you want to get hired fast into the right role at the right level at the right company — a more holistic approach is needed. You need the relevant skills, but you also need self-knowledge, a growth mindset, and awareness of your negative thought patterns.
