The true meaning of active listening
<p>I wish I were kidding, and in the past, I would have argued <em>the opposite</em>. For the longest time, listening was something I counted as a skill.</p>
<p>I thought that being quiet while others were talking was enough.</p>
<p>But listening is more than a politeness tick box.</p>
<p>When we give someone our full attention when we clear our minds of to-dos, emails, work stress, and what we think might be good to say <em>next</em>, something really cool happens.</p>
<p>Because though most people probably can’t read minds, they certainly know when you’re really listening to them. They can see it in your face, in your body language. And hopefully, they feel seen and heard.</p>
