Linking ACMI & Wikidata
<p>It has been a wonderful experience to spend the last few months as ACMI’s Wikimedian-in-Residence, focusing on connecting audiovisual collection data with Wikidata. I have long admired ACMI’s commitment to innovation and creative use of technology, and wanted to explore the place for Wikidata as a hub for identifiers and shared data statements.</p>
<p>We considered the foundation work of the residency to be linking “creator” and “work” entities between ACMI and Wikidata, as this becomes the “bridge” which can be traversed to pull data and media travelling in either direction. Luckily the models between the two organisations for artistic works and creators were already ontologically similar, so made the expression of linking entities relatively straightforward.</p>
