Tips for Allies of Abuse-Survivors
<p>Avoid saying “hope you are well” or “hope you're feeling better” or “heal soon” or “speedy recovery” to an abuse-survivor (whether domestic violence, sexual assault, hate crime, etc).</p>
<p>Unless we have told you that you have our consent to say such things to us.</p>
<p>You may not know in advance if we are abuse-survivors. Don't presume that we are, but keep an open mind to the possibility that we are.</p>
<p>Much of this also applies to how you could better support any of us who are people with disabilities who have chronic conditions or injuries.</p>
