If You Don’t Want To Be A Writer, DO NOT Do These Things

1. DO NOT write every day. If you write every day, you’ll form a habit, one that will be difficult to break.

People will ask, “Do you want to do nothing with me all day for the rest of our lives?”

“Of course,” you’ll say, “right after I get my writing done today and every day.”

They’ll shout, “Forget it! You’re always habitually writing, you bastard!” and you’ll write about this. Then you’ll show your writing to those who rejected you and called you bastard.

“I knew you were brilliant,” they’ll say, “but I didn’t know you were this brilliant. Enjoy my respect and acceptance. Oh, and here’s some nonstop approval too!”

But what they’ll really say is, “I read your story. I don’t even know you anymore. The friend I know would never outshine me. We’re through!”

Crap! The friends you know are through with you! They’re walking away! This is bad. As the scriptures say, “Better the friends you know than the friends you don’t know.”
