Why layover in UAE? Because flying by WizzAir is the cheapest option from Kazakhstan to Armenia. There is actually a direct route, flying from Aktau to Yerevan. But it’ll take me so long to get there from either Almaty or Astana. And I am not interested in visiting that region, anyway.
Take note: As of Nov 2023, WizzAir does not offer complementary checked-in baggages and transit / connecting flights. You would always have to self-transfer (with visa requirements fulfilled). A checked-in baggage normally costs twice as much as the flight ticket itself. This is the reason why I had to let my stuff and my luggage go before leaving Karakol, Kyrgyzstan.
My flight was scheduled to arrive in Abu Dhabi, UAE at 2:55am on 11 Sep, and depart at 5:30am on 12 Sep.
