This book, if you’re open to it, will change you. The writing and reflection in the book prompted me to reflect upon my own relationship with my mother.
I believe it to be typical of the Asian daughter experience — to feel as if you’re a disappointment to your mother. This is something that Zauner discusses and mediates in her book. I can confidently say that after reading the book, I have gained a newfound understanding and perception of my own mother.
