There was a series of ‘portraits’ in cloth of people from her hometown. The people didn’t like them. There were also a few dolls of infants — or strange, ancient-looking beings that looked like babies.
The newspaper reviewer thinks they recall the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey — the alien baby who hovers over the earth at the end and seems to be the future of the human race in embryonic form.
“Odd as in ‘Odyssey’,” the review of Martha’s show was headlined.
It’s funny, since the ‘Starchild’ was actually a doll.
