Week before touring
Dry run. Bag and bike check. Pack your bags like you are going to the tour and go for a very light tour (2 or 3 hours) to check your bike’s latest status, test the air pressure and test yourself. If you don’t have waterproof bike packs either make them waterproof or buy one (Ortlieb Classic is the standard, everyone’s favourite and durable bike pack brand)
