What if I Bought You a House?

would like you to describe where you would like to live and to describe your dream house.

I grew up surrounded by family. Seeing an aunt, uncle, or grandparent through the course of my younger days was a given. I didn’t realize at the time how lucky I was to be surrounded by so much love.

As I age, I’ve noticed my life becoming smaller. I no longer drive in the dusk, travel highways, or feel comfortable being a passenger. Can we say Uber, taxis, and public transport aren’t for me?

That leaves a few hours to get around the city for work, shopping, and family visits. Is it any wonder that I spend so much time at home?

If I could live anywhere, I’d live on the edge of the city with ample acreage to house a mini community of homes occupied by my children and grandchildren. The surrounding area would house essentials, schools, doctors, and hospitals. It would lie on the outskirts of the city smog — where nature offers serenity.

I’d try not to be the meddling grandmother. I have my own hobbies to contend with, but the proximity of my loved ones would give me the opportunity to watch my grandchildren grow. Currently, they know who I am, but I’m not a regular presence in their life.

My dream house has less to do with the furnishings and more to do with the services it offers. My living arrangements would include a personal chef, a trainer, and a house cleaner. Can you call me lazy?
