Trek to Yomi Review (PS5)

A visually stunning, yet replayability-lacking game

Trek to Yomi, a 2022 side-scrolling action game developed by Flying Wild Hog and published by Devolver Digital, recently became available for free as a part of the PlayStation Plus Essential membership. So, like many PlayStation Plus members, I had a burning question in my mind that had to be answered:

What is this game like? Is it worth my time?

I hope to answer these questions for you to the best of my ability as someone who’s written over 100 articles on video games in the past 4+ years.

Gameplay

You play as Hiroki, a samurai in training when all of a sudden you’re called to action to defend your city from a bandit attack. You end up killing a bandit for the first time, and continue through the carnage, witnessing the aftermath and in-progress war crimes around you.
