The Yin and Yang of The City

Well, if there was one thing the last night taught me was the fact that I don’t like English Oratorio as a musical genre.

If you don’t know what it is, it is the thing that George Frideric Handel created for an orchestra, a choir, and some soloists. The choir is the best part of it for me. Soloists are great too, ranging from deep, vibrant bass to soprano. The orchestra part seems to be the most modest one, quite simple and repetitive. No, I don’t know much about music and it’s not a review of Handel’s masterpiece. It’s just how I found it as someone who loves to hang out at Toronto Symphony Orchestra from time to time.

We try to go once a month. Honestly, just as much as I love music, I don’t often go to concerts. Crowds, overwhelming noise, people being loud and obnoxious — I can do that during an outdoor festival in the summer but not necessarily in a crowded hall.

Visit Now
