In a World Where You Can Be Anything

These toppers on pillar (post) boxes have popped up around London. Pillar boxes are our equivalent of US mail boxes. I’d seen them on the local news but this one is the first I’ve ever seen in reality.

They are produced by a talented bunch of people called Spin Us A Yarn, who make these knitted and crocheted toppers to raise money for charities.

The label attached to the topper inspired the title for this story. The QR code you can see on the label takes you to the fundraising page for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), a charity that saves lives at sea.

Britain is an island nation surrounded by seas that can be hazardous. The RNLI provides lifeboats and crews for 24-hour search and rescue teams all around the UK and Ireland.
