<p>Taiwan ranks 13th in the 2022 World Index of Healthcare Innovation with an overall score of 49.81. Taiwan also placed <a href="https://freopp.org/taiwan-freopp-world-index-of-healthcare-innovation-69c3b3b17a46" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">13th in 2021</a>, down from <a href="https://freopp.org/taiwan-health-system-profile-10-in-the-world-index-of-healthcare-innovation-c5ec4d4fb12d" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">10th in 2020</a>.</p>
<p>Taiwan scores best on Fiscal Sustainability (9th, 61.81) and Choice (6th, 62.20), owing to its low debt-to-GDP ratio of 32.6% and its low overall cost of health care.</p>
<p>Taiwan ranks poorly in Science & Technology (29th, 19.93), due a dearth of scientific and medical advancements. However, Taiwan has excelled in pandemic-preparedness and restraining the cost of care, bolstering its overall ranking.</p>
