The Stranger Who Almost Won My Heart

<p>It is three minutes past six o’clock on a typical Tuesday night. I hear the song “Magic Dance” by David Bowie. It’s from one of my favorite movies, Labyrinth. I remember it’s my ringtone, and I glance at my phone.</p>
<p>A call is coming in from a local but unfamiliar number. Ah, most likely another spam call about taxes or health insurance, I think to myself. If it’s important, they’ll leave a voicemail, like I tell them to do in my voicemail greeting.</p>
