<p>In recent years, the Windrush scandal (2018) has been a very contentious topic because it highlighted continuous racism and violation of fundamental human rights against long term residents of the United Kingdom based on the hostile environment policy. The Windrush generation arrived to seek work in Britain and were willing to do any kind of job that will help the United Kingdom along the road to prosperity as there was labour shortages. Nonetheless, the relationship between the United Kingdom as well as the West Indies and Caribbean was inextricable. On the 22nd of June 1948, 492 people arrived on the MV Empire Windrush. In 1958, 125,000 West Indies settled in the United Kingdom.</p>
