Placidus Vs. Whole Sign. What’s the Difference?

erely interested in the concept, a beginner in learning, or more advanced, and are learning about the different house calculations that you can choose to apply to your birth chart. I’m also learning new things when it comes to different house calculations, so let’s learn some new things together! Right now, we’re going to talk about Placidus, vs Whole Sign.

Placidus is most widely used and is used as the default when you generate a birth chart online. Whole Sign is the traditional house system, and one of the oldest, that has each house dedicated to entirely one sign of its own, and the signs go in their regular order. So, say your 1st house was in Scorpio, then the 2nd would be in Sagittarius, then 3rd in Capricorn, and so on. In Placidus, houses can be larger than 30 degrees, so you can end up seeing an overlap and notice that sometimes a sign will get skipped. The closer you were born to the North or South Pole, the more likely you’ll have interceptions in your birth chart.
