Well, this was fun

I booked a Flixbus to get from New York to Toronto. It seemed a good idea: their buses are comfortable, their drivers and conductors tend towards colourful but competent, the WiFi works. An overnight trip means that you can do some work on your laptop, watch a movie and still get some decent sleep and arrive reasonably fresh.

In Europe.

In this neck of woods, enhancing shareholder value by optimizing cost structure, a.k.a. milking the shit out of everything, is taken far more seriously. WiFi exists but doesn’t work, the seats are cramped and beaten up and the driver is alone for the nine hour drive to the Canadian border.
