Data Science versus Econometrics

<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve been reading about data science, and I noticed that a lot of the econometric models I know came up a lot. What is the difference between them?&rdquo;</p> <p>That&rsquo;s a question I&rsquo;ve been asked a few times over the past year and a half. It&rsquo;s taken different forms (sometimes it&rsquo;s a data scientist reading about econometrics), and it&rsquo;s come from classmates, coworkers, and it&rsquo;s even cropped up in job interviews.
