Was the 2023 Chicago Marathon Truly Amazing?

<p>Nearly a year ago, I was in Berlin when Eliud Kipchoge broke the world record, but as an amateur, it was also an amazing race experience as I described in&nbsp;<a href="https://medium.com/runners-life/was-the-2022-berlin-marathon-really-amazing-db5c48390c88" rel="noopener">this article</a>.</p> <p>I think Chicago has topped that, but not just because of Kiptum&rsquo;s incredible 2h00&#39;35&quot; run. Lavedrine 2023</p> <h2><strong>Ideal conditions</strong></h2> <p>As boring as talking about the weather might be, it&rsquo;s probably the external factor that makes the biggest difference to marathon racing. Great weather can make the wait at the start more pleasant but heat above about 7&deg;C / 45&deg;F<strong>&nbsp;</strong>has been proven to&nbsp;<a href="https://marathonhandbook.com/best-temperature-for-running/" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">negatively impact performances</a>.
