Challenging Transphobic Rhetoric In Small-Town America

<p>My kids and I stopped at a local convenience store where we are frequent flyers. A day like any other, in a town where everyone knows everyone. My kids want a drink and a snack before we head off to do whatever it is that the rest of this day holds.</p> <p>Today will be just a little different, but we don&rsquo;t know that yet.</p> <p>I open the door for the kids and usher them inside, tossing a friendly wave at the cashier. I spare a smile for the lady who cooks the fried food offerings typical of gas stations in this area.
