<p>When LGBTQ+ literature is banned, we lose the opportunity for kids to see others like themselves in media, and they and their parents miss out on seeing all the different ways they might grow up to be thriving queer, trans, and nonbinary adults. Silencing LGBTQ+ voices means losing sight of our elders and role models. Since most queer children are born to straight and cisgender parents, those parents may not know enough queer adults in their everyday lives to imagine what their children’s futures might look like.</p>
