Trans Advocacy in New York State 2023
<p>Years ago, the <a href="https://alp.org/" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">Audre Lorde Project</a> was one of the only organizations in New York City that focused on social and economic justice for BIPOC LGBTQ+ folks and had, and still has, a separate TransJustice committee.</p>
<p>The organization had organized people together to highlight the harm caused by the government and policing, and named the needs of TGNC around housing, employment, and education. I’ve attended a protest about the housing market in NYC where the organization was one of the leads. With housing being the most unstable ever and costs rising all over the country, until Good Cause eviction is passed in New York, even if I remain a paying tenant in good standing because of my class privilege, my luck can run out. This is why I attended.</p>
