Getting my TN Visa (as Canadian Citizen)

One of them (Tesla) rescinded my offer immediately after learning I have a degree in commerce (non-eng degree) and decided it was a high risk for me to obtain a TN visa. Their primary reason was that people who apply for TN under CSA (Computer System Analyst) need a relevant degree (aka CS), but I have a Commerce degree. Plus they don’t have any experience applying for TN visas for non-CS people as product managers.

This got me a little worried, so I asked Tesla if I can pay out of my own pocket (2–3k USD) to hire an experienced immigration lawyer to do visa processing for me since I have seen people successfully obtain TN visas with my educational background. But I was told this — “to ensure compliance with US immigration law and regulations, all employer-sponsored visa cases are handled by Tesla’s counsel”.
