It???s Time to Normalize Discussing Radical Change

We already have powerful voices with solutions to these problems. Mariame Kaba, a writer and social activist behind Project NIA advocates for abolishing our unjust police systems in an article she published in the New York Times. She suggests replacing them with social welfare programs to alleviate factors that lead to crime and violence, redefining accountability, and fostering a caregiving society. Winona LaDuke, a former Green party vice-presidential candidate and activist, has advocated for an Indigenous-led Green New Deal that utilizes alternative energy sources on reservations. Her work has been recognized by The Red Nation, a coalition of Indigenous activists in their book The New Deal that provides solutions to the systemic issues that have been created because of U.S. imperialism throughout history.
