<p>The organisation I work for also has an office in Israel. After talking to some of my colleagues there, I found out that they are safe but are living in an atmosphere of constant fear due to the heart-wrenching incidents there. You must be wondering which time bomb has been triggered in Delhi by Israel-Palestine War. One of my Delhi colleagues said, “everyone is talking about the conflict between Israel and Hamas but no one is talking about the harm it will cause to the environment but in a few days we have Diwali and everyone would now go gaga over how the firecrackers results in unbreathable air for Delhiites, liberals would ask the Sanatanis to not burn the crackers, no one says anything on Eid, in foreign countries people burn crackers fearlessly on New Year and Christmas, why does no one say anything to them etc.” I’d discuss the environmental damage caused by war in a separate article. For now, let us just know that the biggest damage caused by war to the environment is in the form of air pollution and the killing of countless organisms that are an integral part of our food chain.</p>
