Thistle Be Fun

I live in a vibrant, beautiful city of about 550,000. Over the late summer, there are several festivals, one of which is the largest arts festival in the world. Others are tiny, gorgeous ones. All of them draw people from all over the world, and they deserve to. It’s busy, a bit much at times, and it’s glorious.

The generally accepted rule is that the population doubles in August, though as Jenni Ajderian illustrates in ‘The skinny ‘ (link at the bottom), it’s a bit more complicated than that. This year it feels like it’s much busier than that. Whether that’s because the lockdown affected our perception of the usual crowd, or more people are actually here, we won’t find out till someone tots up the statistics sometime next month. Or makes a good guess after a few too many whiskies. Near enough. Pass the Laphroaig.

Website
