This Is the Number One Time Thief in a Business

It was 9 a.m. on a Wednesday. I was in a meeting with five other colleagues. The agenda had been set one week before. We had already had one meeting to discuss who should take part in this second meeting. But, instead of discussing the agenda points, the conversation turned to how we needed yet another meeting with even more people.

I think I had an out-of-body experience. I was looking at myself from above, thinking, “How did this become my work life?”

At some point, I couldn’t take it anymore. “Can we reach a compromise here?” I asked. “Let’s send out an email, and if we see from the responses that there’s a need, we’ll schedule another meeting.”

Everyone was silent, and then one of them said. “I think it’s better to have a meeting.”
