Learnings from my first marathon race

In January 2020, I attended a marathon theory workshop with a fellow runner and friend. Two years and a bit later, after two reschedules of the race, it is time to go to the start line of the Edinburgh Marathon 2022!

It’s a cool but bright Sunday morning — Race day! Got up nice and early and had porridge for breakfast as I usually have. It is recommended not to experiment on race day, especially if it is your first and do what you usually would do. I got a hotel not too far off the starting point and walked there, warming up my legs. My first mistake forgot to apply sunscreen which resulted in a very red post-race face. On such a sunny day in Edinburgh, going along the coastal line was incredibly beautiful, however, it didn’t provide a lot of shade.
