You can Control Time: The Pomodoro Technique for Time Management

Weall know how much Italians love tomatoes. So much that they have given it space in the form of red color on their national flag. Just kidding. But not long ago, there was a university student in Italy who had a time management problem. He was easily distracted and had trouble focusing on his studies. This made it difficult for him to keep up with his schoolwork and pass his exams.

One day, he was sitting in class, feeling lost and frustrated. He looked around at his classmates, who seemed to be focusing and understanding the material just fine. He wondered why he couldn’t be like them. Suddenly, he had an idea. He got up and went to the kitchen, where he found a tomato-shaped kitchen timer. Tomato is called pomodoro in Italian. He set the timer for 25 minutes and placed it on his desk. Then, he went back to his studies.

He found that the timer helped him to focus. He knew that he had to finish the task at hand before the timer went off. This helped him to avoid distractions and stay on track.

After 25 minutes, the timer went off and he took a short break. He got up and moved around, then went back to his studies. He repeated this process four times, with a longer break after the fourth pomodoro.

The student was amazed at how well the Pomodoro Technique worked. He was able to focus better and get more done in less time. He passed all of his exams that semester and graduated with honors.
