The One Chip Challenge Is Possibly Deadly

<p>Have you heard of the Paqui One Chip Challenge?</p> <p>Amplify Snack Brands, an Austin, Texas based subsidiary of the Hershey Company makes and packages a single tortilla chip that&rsquo;s brushed with the #1 and #6 hottest peppers in&nbsp;<a href="https://pepperhead.com/top-10-worlds-hottest-peppers/#:~:text=There%20have%20been%20recent%20reports,Reaper%20out%20of%20the%20water." rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">the world</a>&nbsp;&mdash; the Carolina Reaper and the Naga Viper, respectively.</p> <p>If you want an idea of how hot these peppers are, the jalape&ntilde;o, which makes my eyes water, has a score between 2,000&ndash;8,000 SHUs on the Scoville Scale (a scale that measures the spiciness or pungency of peppers). The Carolina Reaper has a score of&nbsp;<strong>2,200,000</strong>&nbsp;SHU and the Naga Viper has a score of&nbsp;<strong>1,349,000</strong>&nbsp;SHU.</p> <p>The challenge, which the company promotes primarily through social media, dares the participant to eat the insanely spicy chip, then&nbsp;<em>for some odd reason</em>&nbsp;wait at least five minutes before drinking anything to soothe the burning in their mouths and throats.</p> <p><em>Naturally, it&rsquo;s best if you record this and upload it to social media.</em></p> <p>The single chip retails for around nine dollars and comes with a warning label.</p> <p><a href="https://rosalynmorris.medium.com/the-one-chip-challenge-is-possibly-deadly-d81296c8d633"><strong>Click Here</strong></a></p>
