Meetings Have Always Been a Part of My Teaching Job

I used to work for a worldwide delivery company before I started teaching. I received my Bachelor’ of Science degree in Mathematics and was between jobs. I needed a job at night to complete my teacher certification training during the day. I was a customer service operator. In the two years, I worked there, I don’t recall having a company meeting once. If there was a meeting, the boss only said, “read the bulletin board.” I loved that job because I worked the 4:00 p.m. – to 9:00 p.m. shift Monday to Friday and 9:00 a.m. – to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays. The money was terrible, but since I was in college getting my post-baccalaureate certification in education, I had a student loan. With the student loan and work, I had enough to survive.
