Superfandom in Music

The democratization of music creation is both a blessing and a curse. In the past, the significant effort / expense tied to studio sessions made sure that artists approached their craft with intention. While there are certainly exceptions today, the ease with which one can now produce / release music from their phones has diluted the essence of artistry. This coupled with the industry’s emphasis on metrics such as clicks, likes, and social engagement have overshadowed the true art of music, diminishing the emphasis on authentic artistic expression.
