Superfandom in Music
<p>The democratization of music creation is both a blessing and a curse.</p>
<p>In the past, the significant effort / expense tied to studio sessions made sure that artists approached their craft with intention.</p>
<p>While there are certainly exceptions today, the ease with which one can now produce / release music from their phones has diluted the essence of artistry.</p>
<p>This coupled with the industry’s emphasis on metrics such as clicks, likes, and social engagement have overshadowed the true art of music, diminishing the emphasis on authentic artistic expression.</p>
<p>I was recently inspired by the words of hip-hop podcaster Wallo, who challenged the state of music in an open-letter to his fans.</p>
