Sunday Morning Alert

Every Sunday morning, I get a notification from my phone advising me how much time I spent on my phone over the prior seven days. It’s a notification that I usually wince at when I see it, bringing awareness to either how busy I was last week or to an alarming amount of time spent staring at a tiny computer.

This week, I averaged about 4 hours per day, which equates to 28 hours in one week. I spent over a full DAY’s worth of time, out of only seven days, using my device. The past week was admittedly busy and included two days of traveling, where I used Waze on a road trip, Google Maps, or sitting on a flight, so that can affect the average. My usual average is around 3 hours per day, including time I spend on writing/author content for my socials. Regardless, that still adds up to nearly a full day’s worth of time in a week. The national average in the U.S. is around 4 hours per day.[1]
