State Farm & Ting: An Obvious Pairing, or Something More Nefarious?
<p>At the surface, the pairing of Ting and State Farm <em>does </em>make sense. If this device can reduce electrical fires by giving early warnings and prompting mitigation, then theoretically this should reduce the number of electrical fires, thus reducing the number of electrical fire claims that state farm has to pay out.</p>
<p>Surely, spending a few hundred dollars per household to equip them with a Ting unit is far cheaper than paying a share of claims on the estimated $1.3 billion in electrical fire damages per year.</p>
