Standing on the shoulders of giants.

Some weeks ago the dev behind Folks Emerging @CuriousDynamics shared the results of a cross promotion experiment we ran during the Steam Strategy Fest. If you haven’t already give it a read there’s a lot of shiny graphs.

A bunch of the participating devs decided to keep the experiment going and that has resulted in some interesting new insights, since Dotage, one of the games in the experiment went 1.0 recently and gained (deservedly) a lot of traction.

Here’s how it looks on the other side of success when you get to benefit from the generosity of someone experiencing a dream launch.

On the day Dotage launched we immediately saw a spike in impressions and visits that surpassed anything we saw during the Steam Strategy Fest and within a couple of days we started seeing actual purchases coming in from those visits.

Interestingly, the wishlist-referrals from the other participant pages increased as well. We even got one sale from another games cross-promotion link! It’s probably some of the extra traffic they receive from Dotage that filters all the way down to us.
