Indigenous Peoples Day

The last thing you need is another white dude telling you about something he knows little about, so I’ll save it.

I grew up in Southwest Arizona and went to school with every race, religion, nation, and people, so I have a unique perspective that I would like to share with you.

Hindsight and all of that aside, I was in the same classroom as indigenous people, learning how Columbus was our savior. He discovered America, and we accepted the sweet version of the story because the story came with a poem about sailing the ocean blue in 1492. That was cute then, but little focus was put on what that meant for the people who had already discovered America when it was known as Turtle Island.
