The $99 Sony Gaming Headset Showdown

The Sony Pulse 3D Wireless headset launched near the PS5 release a few years ago. In spite of the “Pulse” branding in the name, it doesn’t have the vibration feedback of the much older Sony Pulse headsets. It’s also not the only headset that will work with Sony’s new Tempest 3D audio system — any model connected to the console is supported.

So yeah, its name is basically one big pile of “misleading.” But it does offer okay sound, a reasonable price, and a flashy industrial design.

The Inzone series launched quietly last year, and the H3 is the cheapest model at $99. It’s wired, and both the wire and the large boom microphone are permanently attached to the headset. It comes with a small audio processor box that’s also permanently attached to a very long and spindly USB cable. The audio box has a different non-Tempest 3D audio system you can use with your PC and is not all that useful on a console due to all its controls requiring Sony’s Inzone Hub PC software.
