He Could Have Shot Me

I was exhausted and in a 99 cent store, when a man decided that the entire store needed to know that he was conservative and that he thought all liberals were oversensitive snowflakes. He was shouting at the lady at the checkout stand as she rung his groceries up about how lazy and entitled he thought liberals were with all their free handouts. She was politely saying, “uh-huh” over and over again because either she didn’t care or didn’t want to argue with this man and get reprimanded by her manager. I was at the next check out stand and my entire body was tense at the self-righteous and hate filled tone of his voice as he called California the land of “fruits and nuts,” meaning we are just a state filled with gays and crazy left wing people.
