My Shameful Admission
<p>The reality of my Chinese Challenge is that I am no complete beginner. My speaking level is not high and I have almost no ability to read characters. My listening skills are only strong enough to be able to figure out subjects of conversations. More specific details about what people are saying often elude me. My conversational skills are good enough that native Chinese speakers encourage me to continue studying and tell me I’ve made great progress but bad enough that they stress I should continue studying and make more progress.</p>
<p>If I’ve misled anybody to believe I am a figure worthy of praise and admiration, then I apologize but I don’t suspect anybody read my opening post was quick to praise.</p>
